Initiative to restore schools, churches and shrines destroyed in many parts of the world

A really unusual beer has been set to arrive in June from Békésszentandrás, which is not only about beer, but rather about a noble mission. The Templárius Foundation and the Hungary Helps Program have asked Szent András Brewery, one of the country's most historical small-scale breweries, to work together to help Christian communities that have been exposed to persecution in many parts of the world.

In this exemplary donation, we can support the restoration of schools, churches and shrines demolished in many parts of the world with providing guidance from solidarity and Christian love by purchasing each bottle of ‘Templárius’ (Templar beer), a real curiosity. The aim of the project is to highlight the importance and preservation of the Christian belief and values not only in Hungary, but all over the world.

Such an exceptional project is accompanied by the appearance of a similarly unique beer, the Templárius (imperial rye ale, i.e. a strong, top-fermented rye beer). Although the history of brewing dates back to ancient times, medieval recipes have largely been lost, so only a few brewed beer from rye until recently. The portfolio of Szent András Brewery in Békésszentandrás already contained almost all major types of beers, be it modern lagers, full-bodied double bock, fragrant IPA, fruity, wheat or experimental beers. Just to make the portfolio even more complete, they came up with a modern, yet archaic rye beer, the Templárius imperial rye ale, which is a denser, high-alcohol (9% v/v) version of rye beers. Its inimitable brown bread taste is due to its smoked malt and high rye malt content, which were still used exclusively in the Middle Ages. The massive body of 20.5 Balling-degrees is counterpointed by the dry, flowery, spicy aromas that also come from the special yeast. The ultimate permanent beer of the small-scale brewery in Békésszentandrás will be available from the beginning of June in the brewery’s webshop and at their partners.
