Another bronze medal at the most prestigious Czech beer contest!

Szent András Brewery's Cherry Beer won bronze prize at the Czech Republic's most prestigious beer contest, and the brewery's Vienna Lager “Óarany” also made its way among the finalists in one of the strongest categories at Gold Brewer’s Seal. Out of the Hungarian competitors, only Szent András Brewery won prize, though another cherry beer, the one by Jászapáti Guri Brewery, also got into the finals. Beside the Békésszentandrás-based craft beer manufacturer, the competitors included large brewers like Staropramen, Bernard, Krušovice, Carlsberg and Heineken, as well as Primator, Holba and the recently relaunched legendary Ceské Krumlov that also entered the competition.

The prestigious beer contest with several categories was held in Ceske Budejovice (previously Tabor), the Czech Republic, with many Czech, German and Polish competitors, but, out of the Hungarian contestants, only Szent András Brewery managed to win prizes. The result, that the brewery's Vienna Lager beer, the Óarany got among the finalists in one of the strongest categories, was even a greater success. The most prestigious prize at the beer festival Gold Brewer’s Seal 2017 was won by breweries Mayzus, Český Krumlov and Nová Sladovna.

The Gold Brewer’s Seal 2017 contest was held between 13 and 18 February this year. The prestige of the festival-like competition was also illustrated by the increasing number of competitors: more than 1,000 beers by almost 200 breweries from 20 countries entered the competition. The professional jury handed out 95 prices in several categories. The contest was surrounded by high international attention, and beside the traditionally strong contestants from the Czech Republic, Belgium and Germany, the products of Kazakh, Russian, Norwegian and Japan breweries were also represented at the event.
