Szent András Brewery's Cherry Beer won Diamond award as the best Hungarian fruit beer

Szent András Brewery's Cherry Beer, made of real cherry, won the most prestigious Diamond Award at the international beer contest Central European Beer Awards 2018, so, following previous medal-winnings in the Czech Republic, it was proved again that the best cherry beer of Hungary is still made in Szent András Brewery. Other beers by the brewery like the Vienna lager 'Óarany' and the traditional Doppelbock 'Fekete' won silver medals. The beer 'Monarchista' won bronze medal.

The international Central European Beer Awards 2018, held 9 June 2018 in Gyula, Hungary had registrations from 32 breweries from six countries (Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary) with 107 samples. The awards were handed out in two categories by the international jury: at the contest of the home amateur brewers, nine bronze, two silver, four golden and four champion prizes went to the winners, while in the category of craft breweries, the winners got six bronze, ten silver, eight golden and six champion prizes in total, beside the special awards.

The director of the competition Ladislav Kovacs said that many high quality beers entered the competition. The jury examined the drinks comprehensively, including the smell, the taste, the impression, and they also took other points into consideration using a modern computer program, based on a US system.
